REST & DIGEST.
Creative School for Integration explores Embodied Mark-making and Journaling in relationship to the rhythm of the natural world—both the Macro and the Micro. This supports participants to connect with their parasympathetic nervous system which governs the Rest & Digest mode. As we down-regulate we let go of stress and stressors—and thus are also able to let go of what we think we know about something when connecting to a plant, nature object, animal, person, space, etc. This letting go allows for connective and integrative creativity to unfold.
This is in contrast to Fight or Flight a mode governed by the sympathetic nervous system which provides extra energy to face or run from danger. Many of us are often subtly or blatantly operating in Fight or Flight due to societal and environmental trauma, personal trauma or epigenetic trauma as well as just trying to keep up with the multi-tasking demands of overculture. This Fight or Flight state of heightened heart-rate and being on constant alert can be depleting and anxiety making. However, it’s not that Fight or Flight is bad. It's a primal instinct of survival and we need it sometimes. We just don’t need to be in Fight or Flight ALL the time.
Our Creative Sessions offer integrative tools to engage the cumulative benefits of the Rest & Digest mode. Imagine the world we would be living in if leaders were accessing their Rest & Digest mode and making decisions from their Creative HEART Space? We can EACH choose to create and lead from our Creative HEART Space. This is a powerful way to self-nourish and redefine what is a valuable life.
