Bring on the Happiness!
Explore the integration of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), aka Tapping, with Embodied Mark Making.
Facilitated by Dena Clayton, Certified Clinical EFT Practitioner &
Kirsten D'Andrea Hollander, Creative School for Integration Founder & Creative Guide
In this approximately 120-minute Creative Session, participants are supported to explore the Spring-Wood phase via breath, guided meditation, gentle EFT tapping and Embodied Mark Making. This includes bringing loving awareness to the yin and yang organs of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Spring-Wood phase, the liver and gallbladder.
Feel free to pause the recording and expand the length of the open creative time as needed.
EFT Tapping is a simple and scientifically validated method proven to calm the nervous system. Gently tapping our fingertips on several acupoints brings a shift from a 'fight, flight, or freeze' emotional state into a peaceful 'rest and digest' mode. EFT reduces anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, pain, and other stressors.
Mark-making is the precursor to doodling, journaling, drawing, and painting. It is the foundation for whatever your heart desires. Embodied Mark-making goes further, acknowledging how the body welcomes creativity into an ever-expanding heart space. It is an accessible gateway to all art forms.
No prior art experience is needed, yet seasoned artists are also finding new depths in their work.
Suggested Supplies: You will need a notebook, a journal, or some drawing paper, and your favorite mark-making tools. These might be markers, graphite, paintbrushes, charcoal, pastels, or any colors that call to you. During this practice, you may choose to make expressive marks, write in your journal—or both! You can work at any scale: small, medium, or large.
Additionally, it is highly recommended to have a mark-making tool for each hand. As a gentle reminder, you can work with whatever you have on hand! It takes a lot of courage to slow down and be present with your awareness, body sensations, responses, and expressions. Creative School sessions are designed to integrate all that is nourishing and compassionate into our human lives. We highly recommend that you start at the beginning of this session and go all the way through to its conclusion.
